The Public House is a page devoted to those glorious places where people come together called Pubs. Here you will find information about various Pubs from all over the world. If we write about a Pub here it means that we have actually been there and experienced it.
Something that is important to remember when reading and considering our reviews is that just as every pub is different. so are the people who frequent them. A pub that one person believes to be absolutely amazing, can be absolutely crap for someone else.
We have found that our opinion of a given pub depends less on the pub than the experience that we had while there. Those experiences can be freatly affected by a variety of different things including but not limited too;
- The people we are with.
- The mood those people are in.
- Our own mood.
- The other people in the pub.
- Whether or not we have a good time.
These are things beyond the control of the pub itself. There are some things however there are very much in the control of the proprietors that we will be addressing in this blog. Those are;
- The Volume Level – A pub is a place to sit and talk and drink with friends. If you can’t don’t that because it’s too loud then why bother?
- The Quality of Service – do the staff know their business or is this just a job for them?
- The Selection of Libations – A pub by our definition is a full bar. Beyond that how is the selection of drink
- Craft Cocktails – Are these available and do they take a million years.
- The Menu – A pub, again by our definition serves food. Good hearty, comfort food, that maybe but not always sometimes gets fancy.
- The Toilets – If I’m drinking, I’m pissing. I don’t want to spend my evening waiting for the one toilet in the whole building.
- Cleanliness – A pub (our definition) is a home away from home. The living room you walk into to find all your friends waiting to hang out and relax. I want my living room to be clean and comfortable.
